Just as many traditions believe that the “OM” is the original creative sound, there are traditions that believe that this energy may be attributed to another sound—the “HU”. In the Shabd Yoga traditions, including Master Path and Eckankar and in the mystical Islamic path of Sufi, the “HU” is considered to be the highest vibratory mantra that can be sounded. Chanting the “HU” is said to lead one to transcendence—to God realization and enlightenment.
“HU” is believed to be the universal name of God, which is present in every existing language. The “HU” sound has been described as many things from the buzzing of bees to the rushing of wind to the flute of God. It is said to be present in the words we speak, in the sounds of animals; that it is the wind in the trees, the rushing of waters, the roaring of water falls, the beat of the sea against a beach—that it is everywhere, in every plane.

For many years I have wanted to write an English chant about how our breath brings us closer to the divine presence within. One day, I picked up Daniel Ladinsky’s book, “Love Poems From God” and opened to the poem “The Christ’s Breath” and in a state of inspiration wrote the lyrics for “You Are My Breath".
The mantra, La’illaha il’Allah is a sacred phrase chanted by Sufis and Muslims all over the world. It means, “There is nothing other than You, O God. You alone are God!” My first experience singing this mantra was many years ago, when I was first introduced to the Dances of Universal Peace and Sufi Zikrs (meditation practices that incorporate movement and chanting). The Sufis teach that the repetition of this phrase alone will open the heart to the Divine Presence.

OM MANI PADME HUM - Mantra
The mantra Om Mani Padme Hum (literally: "Aum, to the Jewel in the Lotus, hum) is recited by Tibetan Buddhists to invoke Chenrezi, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Repeating this mantra accumulates merit and eases negative karma; meditating upon it is believed to purify the mind and body.
Om mani padme hum (sánscrito ॐ मणि पद्मे हूँ, oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ) es probablemente el mantra más famoso del budismo, el mantra de seis sílabas del bodhisattva de la compasión, Avalokiteshvara (en sánscrito) o Chenrezig (en tibetano). El mantra se asocia en particular con la representación de cuatro brazos Shadakshari de Avalokiteshvara. Se dice que el Dalái Lama es una reencarnación de Avalokiteshvara, razón por la cual el mantra es particularmente venerado por sus seguidores.
